Jean Odwazny has been doing community counseling on the North Shore since 2003 and currently maintain a private practice in downtown Highland Park working with adolescents, adults, and families. Her therapeutic approach incorporates a mindfulness perspective with empirically supported behavioral therapies which allows for relief from depression, anxiety, and interpersonal difficulties. Jean has completed advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). Her Type 73 - School Social Work Certification is helpful in serving adolescents and families, in addition to school settings, IEPs, and 504 plans. Her belief is therapy is only as good as the relationship between a client and therapist. Thus, her goal to get to know every client on a deeper level in order to cultivate a healthy, therapeutic relationship that can provide opportunities to learn, be challenged, and grow.
