When we focus on the past there is a feeling of regret or remorse. When we focus on the future there is a sense of anxiety or fear because the future has not been created. It is only in the moment of being present that we can find ease & peace. Then and only then can we truly understand that in this very present moment we can create our future. Since the 1970s, meditation and other stress-reduction techniques have been studied as possible treatments for depression and anxiety. Yoga can reduce the impact of exaggerated stress responses and may be helpful for both anxiety and depression. In this respect, yoga functions like other self-soothing techniques, such as meditation, relaxation, exercise, or even socializing with friends. -Harvard Medical School
Thankfully, with yoga and mindfulness, we can regain a sense of balance. Yoga stretches were designed to help release stored emotions and mindfulness teaches us how to interrupt anxious thought patterns. We learn to live more integrated lives and find peace of mind.
In this workshop, we will practice both active and restful yoga poses to counter the effects of stress on the body. Simple and effective breathing techniques will be taught to calm the nervous system. And we will follow a long peaceful guided meditation to clear our mind of anxious chatter. All that you learn in this workshop can be applied to everyday life to maintain balance.
