How Mindfulness Changes Lives: By Being Present – Calling up a Calmer Voice in the Storm – Embracing Self-Compassion – Compassion for Others
The benefits of mindfulness are vast and include changes in our behavior, our brain, and our body. The three kinds of energies that help us see things more deeply and the resulting benefits are mindfulness of presence, concentration, and insight. And they can be produced anytime while doing any activity.
Meditation strengthens our ability to cope with difficult emotional experiences and increase emotional wellbeing by mitigating negative thinking. Meditation improves relationships, enhances our patience, generosity, gratitude, acceptance, humility, openness, gentleness and self-compassion.
This 8-week class will be grounded in cultivating a state of mindfulness and the resulting benefits. This is an active class that includes discussion, practice, and in-class exercises to help awaken our “mindfulness muscle”.
This class is open to those with little or no meditation experience as well as those with some experience that have yet to develop a consistent practice.
