HIGHLAND PARK, IL (AUGUST 6, 2016) — Ballet Makkai is proud to host Downtown Highland Park’s inaugural Kids Fair on Saturday, August 6th from 10 a.m.—1 p.m. in Port Clinton Square (600 Central Ave, Highland Park). Funded in part by a grant from the Downtown Highland Park Alliance, the fair will showcase the best of ‘all things kids’ in Downtown Highland Park, from arts and crafts, dance and music classes to shopping, food, drinks, and loads of entertainment for the whole family.
“Highland Park is truly an amazing place to raise children, and its Downtown has so much to offer kids of all ages and interests,” says Lilla Makkai Daniels, Creative Director of Ballet Makkai. “So I thought how perfect it would be to host an event that highlights all the wonderful shops, services and schools in Highland Park that cater to kids.”
The Downtown Highland Park Kids Fair has tons of fun activities planned for families and children of all ages and interests. Kids and their parents can try sample dance classes from Ballet Makkai and The Performers School, music classes from The Music Gallery, and exercise classes from The Box taking place every half hour.
Highland Park’s very own Martha Abelson Photography will be taking portraits. And there will be face painters, magicians and balloon animals Harris Kal Productions to add to the festivities, while parents and children alike can enjoy artisan teas from family-owned Love that Spice.
Parents of babies and toddlers will enjoy upscale clothing and toy selections from Sprout Kids, Beanstalk Toyland & Bookstore, Baby Dreams and Toddler. Tweens and teens alike will love to peruse the offerings from Ross Cosmetics, Uncle Dan’s, HP Tops, and Glamour Girlz.
In addition, the Downtown Highland Park Kids Fair is also an excellent opportunity to learn more about the fabulous services offered by local organizations that will be on site, such as The Art Center – Highland Park, Highland Park Aquatics Club, Highland Park Library, North Shore Family Services, Mathnasium of Highland Park, and Ravinia Reading Center.
