Beethoven’s music marks the transition from the Classical Period to the Age of Romanticism. He represents the individualism, innovation and transformation that are benchmarks of the 19th Century following the French Revolution. By listening to excerpts from his “Mighty Nine” symphonies, piano concertos, and a smattering of chamber music, we will embark on a musical adventure reflecting the impact of Beethoven’s personal life and genius within the historical and sociological context of his time. No prerequisites.
