CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
The City of Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission and The Art Center are jointly sponsoring the Art Is Alive in Highland Park contest, to be judged on Saturday, December 5 at The Art Center in Highland Park, 1957 Sheridan Road. “The Art Is Alive in Highland Park contest allows community members to kick their creativity into high gear, make great art and have fun,” says Rhoda Pierce, the Chairperson of the Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission. To enter, bring one finished piece of artwork to The Art Center for judging on December 5 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The contest is open to Highland Park residents and students attending Highland Park schools. A jury of arts professionals will select five finalists in each category. From those finalists, a First Place winner in each category will be chosen. All finalists will be awarded ribbons and the winners will receive a prize from The Art Center. Final judging will be at a reception hosted by The Art Center on January 8, 2016. Selected art works will be exhibited at The Art Center in January 2016. Submitted art can be in all forms, from drawing, photography, painting, ceramics, sculpture, to mixed media. Submittals will be accepted only on Saturday, December 5. Artists may submit only one work of art. All community members are encouraged to participate.
