Join us to learn about these types of unhealthy behaviors, recognize the impact they have on you and your family, and explore new coping skills for a happier and healthier life.
A support group for women is forming at Trinity Episcopal Church in Highland Park sponsored by A Safe Place. The group will meet at on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm. Each group has sixteen components to strengthen and equip women to heal from the trauma of unhealthy relationships.
Topics covered each week include:
Assertiveness and empowerment
Characteristics of unhealthy relationships
The impact unhealthy relationships have on women and children
Healing the physical damage caused by the dynamics in unhealthy relationships
Healing the emotional and psychological damage of unhealthy relationships
Characteristics of healthy relationships
Legal Issues (Order of protection, restraining orders, Illinois Domestic Violence Act, etc)
Life skills and strength finder
Introduction to A Safe Place resources (legal advocacy, housing assistance, shelter, and counseling services)
The group is facilitated by Nancy Dunsey a licensed professional counselor (LPC) on staff at A Safe Place in Zion, Waukegan and Lake Forest. Nancy earned her MaMHC (Master’s of Mental Health Counseling) at Trinity International Evangelical Divinity School.
The group along with all of the resources at A Safe Place are FREE. A Safe Place is entirely funded by grants and private donations.
