October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month , 2017.
On Sunday October 29th there is an event organized by Luggage for Freedom from the National Council of Jewish Women. It will take place at West Ridge Center ,636 Ridge Ave in Highland Park, Ill. from 11:30am-2pm.
Volunteers will pack suitcases and deliver donations to local domestic violence centers. To volunteer email- [email protected]

Volunteer as an Election Judge in Lake County!
Luggage for Freedom, a project of the National Council of Jewish Women, is holding a collection drive on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 10:00 – 12:00 am at Extra Space Storage located at 1620 Old Deerfield Road in Highland Park. They will be collecting donations of NEW sheets, NEW towels, new or gently used luggage (NO oversized or garment bags please) backpacks, purses and children’s books, as well as NEW stuffed animals to assist women and children leaving domestic violence shelters.

Highland Park Letter Carriers delivered almost 2,000 bags of food to Moraine Township’s Food Pantry Saturday, May 13, 2017, and several Letter Carriers joined almost 40 other volunteers over the course of the afternoon and early evening to help unload food, carry it to the basement, and sort it into bins.
This is National Volunteer Week!
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. 
We thank all the volunteers who have given their time and effort to help others in our community.

A free concert for Autism Awareness month April 23 at 2pm sponsored by Aspiritech. Dr. Charles Joseph Smith performs a piano concert at Christ Church. Dr. Smith, amazingly talented pianist, struggles with Autism.

Become a Fair Housing Tester 
 at Open Communities-Training Thurs. Feb. 23 6pm-8:30pm

As a volunteer fair housing tester, you can help identify housing discrimination and ensure that fair housing laws are upheld, by posing as a home seeker and reporting your observations. Adults of any racial or ethnic group and all physical abilities are encouraged to participate. Volunteers receive fair housing training, a stipend for each completed test, and travel reimbursement.
