ORPHANS OF THE STORM ANIMAL SHELTER

Orphans of the Storm® animal shelter takes in the stray and abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats from throughout northeastern Illinois and offers refuge, care and hope until they can be adopted out into loving families.
The shelter is open to the public for adoptions every day of the year except major holidays. With capacity for 190 dogs and over 350 cats, we offer a selection like no other in the Chicago area. Our adoption fee is $90 and can be paid in the form of a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card) or cash. We do not accept checks.

The adoption fee of $90 includes the first innoculations, a general worming, a kennel cough preventative, a flea and tick treatment, a collar, leash and a tag. The dog will be spayed/neutered (if he is not already) at no expense to you at our animal hospital before going home with you.

There will be a final series of innoculations at your expense which includes second distemper/booster shot, fecal exam, rabies vaccination and a heartworm test. These will be given at the same time as the spay/neuter and may be paid for at the animal hospital when you pick up your new dog.

Thank you Brady and Kaden from Oak Grove School for your impressive donation! Our animals are excited to enjoy everything you brought!
These 9 year old buddies, Chocolate Lab, Jake, and his buddy, Rascal the Chihuahua truly enjoy each other's company. Big and Little, they are adorable together and we're hoping a family might fall in love with both of them. They truly love each other. Both are super sweet dogs with low key personalities. Jake can be strong on a leash, a harness may be best for him. He is a wonderful guy and will alert you if someone is outside. Truly loving personality. Rascal is a super sweet very laid back little man. He truly loves Jake and they will snuggle up on the same bed together. He is super quiet. He walks very well on a leash. No issues between them at all. Both house trained and crate trained. They have lived together all their lives. Great dogs!
Tarzan and Beans lost their family earlier this year and were really hoping for a new family together...they met them today! Congratulations!!
Adoptable heeler, Mona.
Adoptable Bud
Little Jack who came in with little brother John. Always nice to adopt two - so they have a friend to grow up with:-)
Marlin, Squirt and Nemo: These 6 month old Hound mix puppies are really all sweet dogs. Great personalities. They have all been housed in the same kennel and get along great with each other. They all want hugs. They live for attention. Very happy to get treats and do so gently. Love toys and playing with each other. They are very food motivated. They do not walk well on a leash yet. They need some practice. They play hard and then all cuddle up on the same bed to sleep. All have great loving personalities. Still young and eager to learn, they are going to be big dogs for sure.
Ten month old Olive came to us as a stray and is currently housed with another female dog. She is already 45 pounds big and is pretty adorable:-) We are just getting to know her, but she'd rather get to know you!
Munch: This 1 year old Cattle dog is a very handsome boy. He is super smart and knows many commands: Sit, down, stay, spin and paw! He is very good on a leash and loves to get out for a walk. Such a happy personality. Enjoys toys, treats, attention and a good petting. He loves to run so a fenced yard would be great for him. Looking for a family to love him, he would be a great addition in any home.
Two year old Jake's family is no longer able to care for him. He lived with a cat and was a wonderful family member.
Foxy: This 1-2 year old Terrier mix is the sweetest, most loving little lady. Loves attention and affection and will give you the best hugs. This petite little girl is very happy and social. She loves everyone she meets. Happy to be talked to and given a good scratch. She loves to go out for a walk and is very good on a leash. She is looking for love and a family of her own.
Two year old boy, FInder.
Farmer is good with other dogs, very lovable and playful. He had his front leg amputated, but he won’t let slow him down. We love him.
Dax: This 8 year old Beagle is a super sweet old man. Happy to be cuddled up on his bed, he is very easygoing and very quiet. He enjoys going out for a walk and in typical beagle fashion, his nose is to the ground. He walks well on leash. Enjoys toys and treats. He loves to be cuddled and pet, his tail is always going. Happy to meet everyone. Great little man looking for a warm place to land. He would be a great dog for an older person or couple to lounge with.
Bambi: This 16 month old Lab mix is a sweet girl who doesn't know her own strength. She knows how to sit and we’re pretty sure she is house trained. She is a happy girl and very social. She enjoys treats, toys and a good scratch. She does jump up and has a high energy level. A fenced yard would greatly benefit this girl to run off some energy. She is very curious and eager to learn. Great dog for an active household.
The kennels are full and Diesel is here waiting to meet you! This 2 year old Catahoula/Aussie mix is a very sweet but very shy guy. His coat is gorgeous with all the colors in it. He is an easygoing boy who enjoys his toys and treats and takes them gently. A little leash shy, but learning. He gives the sweetest kisses when shown attention. Happy to be pet and loved on. This guy would fit nicely in any family. Great dog!
Wishing you a Happy Valentines Day!
